What EpigraphIA does for puzzle books
EpigraphIA combines 3 modules that work together to produce a KDP-ready puzzle book: Word Weaver builds themed word lists, Puzzler turns them into puzzles with configurable rules (difficulty, size, orientation), and Book Studio lays out the book and exports the interior PDF + full-wrap cover ready for KDP.
Word search book generator
Puzzler's word search generator accepts any themed list (animals, food, countries, characters, etc.). You configure grid size, difficulty (which adjusts how many words fit and in which orientations), and Puzzler generates the word search with words placed horizontal, vertical, diagonal and reversed. Each book includes an automatic solutions page.
The 5 puzzle types available
| Type | Generation | Configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Word search | From word list (Word Weaver) | Grid size, orientations (H/V/D/reversed), difficulty |
| Crossword | From CSV of words + clues | Words and clues loaded manually |
| Sudoku | Algorithmic (9×9 grid) | Adjustable difficulty, unique each time |
| Maze | Algorithmic (DFS) | Size based on difficulty, configurable entry and exit |
| Hangman | Themed words | Predefined categories: animals, food, countries, etc. |
How it works in 5 steps
- Pick type: word search, crossword, sudoku, maze or hangman.
- Content: for word search/crossword/hangman, define the word list (Word Weaver helps generate them by theme). For sudoku and maze, generation is algorithmic.
- Configuration: grid size, difficulty, orientations, book page count.
- Generation: Puzzler produces each page as internal SVG + solutions page at the end of the book.
- KDP export: Book Studio lays out the book with the chosen trim size (default 6×9 in) and exports 300 DPI PDF ready to upload to KDP.

Frequently asked questions
Does EpigraphIA generate puzzle books for Amazon KDP?
Yes. The Puzzler module generates 5 types of printable puzzles ready for KDP: word search, crossword, sudoku, maze and hangman. Everything runs 100% offline on your computer.
What kinds of word search can I create?
Word Weaver gives you themed word lists and Puzzler turns them into word search puzzles with configurable grid size, difficulty and orientations (horizontal, vertical, diagonal, reversed). Each book includes an automatic solutions page.
Are the sudokus and mazes original?
Yes. Sudokus are generated with original algorithms (9×9 grid, adjustable difficulty). Mazes are generated with DFS and size depends on chosen difficulty. Each generation is unique — no repeated templates.
Which trim sizes does Puzzler support?
Puzzler has 12 KDP trim sizes with 6×9 in as default. You can pick the one that best fits the puzzle type — for example 8.5×11 for large word search grids, or 6×9 for pocket sudoku books.
Do I need internet to generate the puzzles?
No. Puzzler runs 100% offline. Puzzle generation does not use AI — it's algorithmic and deterministic. You only need internet to download the app and for AI modules like Image Studio (not used for puzzles).
Can I create a book with multiple puzzle types?
Yes. You can assemble mixed books (e.g. 50 pages of sudoku + 20 pages of word search) or specialize in one type. Book Studio lays out the book in the order you define.
